Acá dentro El Averno. Al cruzar la puerta, el infierno.
Here inside, The Underworld. Crossing the door, hell.
Here are some scenes from a moving night spent in the centre’s old streets, in an occupied house transformed into a haven for artists, night animals, dreamers and the curious. From these people you learn about the pace of change, what was said and believed that came true, what you hoped for and what it lead you to pursue. Talk of country and past love blend naturally as only those tuned into their hearts and rooted in their land manage to express. Here too, and shockingly for the first time since landing in the country, I was made to consider another major influence on Peru’s state of affairs, other than mining, political corruption and engrained social and racial exclusion: the drug trade. An open heart goes with open eyes.
